Discover the natural wonders of southwestern Iceland, a gorgeous landscape of thundering waterfalls, ancient glaciers, geothermal phenomena and unspoiled national parks.
After flying into Keflavik International Airport in Reykjavik, you will proceed to the baggage claim area, and through customs after which you will be met. Transfer to the Hilton Reykjavik Nordica (or similar) for check in. Once you settle in, you will enjoy the remainder of the day as you please.
You might relax in your room, enjoy the hotel’s amenities or explore Reykjavik on your own. Dinner will be on your own and the evening will be spent at the hotel.
Following breakfast and check out at the hotel, you will drive off in a 4x4 Superjeep vehicle towards the LAVA centre, an interactive, high-tech educational exhibition depicting volcanic activity, earthquakes and the creation of Iceland over millions of years. Examine the various volcanoes—eruptions and lava flows, volcanic and rift systems, faults and glacial floods that make Iceland a showcase of volcanism.
one of the highest waterfalls in Iceland.
Then, after the exhibition at the Lava center, you will continue to Seljalandsfoss waterfall, one of the highest waterfalls in Iceland. It’s a spectacular setting, especially considering that it’s possible to walk behind the roaring cascade of water.
After lunch at Country Hotel Anna another extraordinary adventure awaits you at Skogafoss, a majestic waterfall in the countryside. If it’s a sunny day, you can expect to see single and double rainbows in the rising mist. According to legend, a Viking hid gold in a chest at the bottom of the waterfall but it’s now inaccessible.
After viewing Skogafoss, you will drive to the Ranga Hotel (or similar) where you will spend the evening.
On the way to the hotel the super jeep drivers will take you for a ride along a black sandy beach.
Crafted for uniquely tough conditions, “Superjeeps” are the result of decades of insular technical innovation and evolution, from tinkering with old army Jeeps to get further up hill, to our hand-built monsters equally at home crossing Antarctica, the wild Icelandic Highlands – or the highway.
Each vehicle is custom-built with up to 3 separate transmissions, 2 separate steering systems, fully in-cab adjustable four corner air suspension, fully lockable differentials, up to 7.3 litre turbocharged engines, an array of radio equipment, marine-type satellite navigation and the biggest available road legal tires in the world.
A Super jeep is only ever piloted by a trained professional (usually the owner) who knows not only the extreme limits of his/her machine, but that the full might of that megabuck truck is applicable only with care and intimate knowledge of the sensitive Icelandic sub-Arctic Nature.
Depending on the size of the vehicle, the capacity is from 3 – 16 guests.
Following breakfast and check out at the hotel, you will drive off towards the Golden Circle, a picturesque route through the countryside that encompasses some of the most spectacular natural attractions in Iceland.
The first stop along the way will be Gullfoss waterfall, which roars through a rugged canyon before plummeting more than 100 feet down. The water from the White River falls in two stages, which adds even more drama to its descent. Gullfoss is known as the Golden Waterfall because of the color of the water, which originates from a sediment-rich glacier.
Next, you will view the Geysir Geothermal Field, which includes hot springs with boiling mud pits, erupting geysers and blowholes. Geysir has been active for thousands of years, although the intensity of the natural phenomena varies according to the geothermal activity.
Then, it’s on to Friðheimar, a family-run business that involves horticulture and horse breeding. It may seem like an unusual enterprise but it is flourishing. Friðheimar primarily grows tomatoes using geothermal water to heat the greenhouses and breeds various types of riding horses.
Following lunch and a horse show at Friðheimar, you will continue to Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is significant both historically and environmentally. For starters, the world’s first parliament was assembled there in 930 A.D. In fact, it continued to convene there until 1798.Þingvellir is also naturally beautiful and shows evidence of the way that the landscape was husbanded for more than 1,000 years.
After visiting this revered Icelandic site, you will drive to the Hotel Husafell (or similar) where you will spend the evening.
Following breakfast and check out at the hotel, you drive to Hraunfossar waterfall – where water pours out of the porous rock in the lava mossy lava field. Further upstream is the waterfall Barnafoss. After taken in these sights, continue to proceed to the magnificent Blue Lagoon, a manmade lagoon with mineral-rich water. The minerals give the water a silky blue color and purportedly have therapeutic benefits. Besides enjoying the splendor of the setting, you will have the opportunity to bathe in the lagoon before departing for the ship to begin your cruise.

Any luggage that will be stored will be left at the hotel in Reykjavik where it will be collected by our local operator.
