a local’s guide to visiting MONTRÉAL in the fall BY MARIE-EVE VALLIERES Uncontestably one of the most strikingly beautiful places on the planet to enjoy the crimson, titian wonders of autumn, the entire North-Eastern portion of the American continent really knows how to put on a show however fugacious it may be. While New England is a postcard-worthy pick, Montréal o”ers an urban twist to the season of wooly scarves, pumpkin lattes and apple picking. Admittedly, this is my favourite time of the year in the city — something about the way the leaves contrast against the brightly colored buildings and the sound of leaves crunching under my feet as I walk towards the metro station. In my opinion, autumn is always the best season to travel. There are far fewer crowds than there are in the summer months; not to mention prices, which are consequently much lower. And more often than not, the weather is absolutely gorgeous, especially towards the end of September. 54
