Land Programs & Hotels

  • See the best of the Canadian West, much of it from the comfort of your Gold Leaf Service Car on the Rocky Mountaineer, an award-winning train that presents an ever-changing landscape of beautiful mountains, rivers and forests.

NOTE: This program starts in Calgary, Alberta. Arriving flights must be into Calgary International Airport (YYC). For guests wishing to book extra nights before the program starts, they must be booked independently as Rocky Mountaineer is not able to confirm them.

NOTE: Please use this itinerary for suggested timings as they may change. Your Tour Director will be able to advise of any changes along the way.

    DAY 1

Upon arrival at the Calgary International Airport, you will be met by local meet and greet personnel and assisted to your taxi transfer to the Fairmont Palliser Hotel (or similar) located in the heart of downtown in Calgary.

After check-in at 12:00pm, the remainder of the day is at your leisure. Should you have an early arriving flight you may store luggage with the hotel Concierge until your hotel’s check in time.

NOTE: Rocky Mountaineer requires arrival flight details at least 3 months in advance. If your flights are not booked through Regent Seven Seas Cruises, kindly make sure that we have these details so that the transfer can be arranged accordingly.

Meals are on your own today.

    DAY 2

After breakfast at leisure and then check out, meet your Tour Director and set off of an exclusive Regent Seven Seas Group full-day tour ending in Banff.

Enjoy the scenery with photo stops along the way as you make your way to Banff. Once in the Banff area your tour highlights include Bow Falls, Surprise Corner and the Hoodoos. Also take a ride on the Banff Gondola to the top of Sulphur Mountain where you will experience a stunning bird's-eye view of six incredible mountain ranges.

Before heading into the town of Banff, enjoy a one-hour cruise on Lake Minnewanka, considered to be Banff’s largest lake. Feel the fresh mountain air, watch for wildlife and get adventurous on Banff's largest lake. This panoramic interpretive cruise begins from the western end of the lake. Take in breathtaking mountains and emerald-green water as you keep a watchful eye on forested slopes and rocky shorelines for wildlife and waterfalls. The boats are heated and covered so you can explore in any weather. NOTE: Boat may be shared with other guests.

In time, you will check in at the Hotel Canoe and Suites or similar.

Lunch and dinner are on your own today.

Note: Your hotel is within walking distance to all the unique shops and restaurants of Banff.

    DAY 3

Following breakfast at your hotel, set out for an awe-inspiring full-day sightseeing tour along the magnificent Icefields Parkway. Among the highlights today are Lake Louise, Emerald Lake and Moraine Lake.

Both Moraine Lake and Lake Louise are stunning turquoise lakes located within Alberta’s Banff National Park. These lakes are glacially fed and when light hits the lake it is refracted by the rock flour in the water displaying a distinctive azure-blue color. Photo stops will be made at both.

Enjoy lunch at Emerald Lake Lodge which is located on a private island in Alberta's Yoho National Park. Enjoy breathtaking views over the lake during your visit here.

After this fun-filled day you will return to Banff where the remainder of the day and evening are at your leisure. Dinner is on your own.

    DAY 4

Following an early morning shared motor coach transfer to the Lake Louise Rail Station, you will board the luxurious Rocky Mountaineer train. A gourmet breakfast will be served onboard shortly after departure.

The Rocky Mountaineer will head west through the majestic Canadian Rockies to your overnight destination of Kamloops. Highlights include passing by Craigellachie - where the last spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway was driven in 1885, the climb over Rogers Pass, the Kicking Horse Canyon, the Spiral Tunnels – a true engineering feat, and the glaciers and snow-capped peaks of the Canadian Rockies.

On arrival at the Kamloops station, you will be transferred by shared motor coach to your overnight accommodation (the exact hotel will be confirmed by Rocky Mountaineer approximately 7 days prior to departure and are subject to adjustment). The evening is at leisure and dinner is on your own.

    DAY 5

You will re-board the Rocky Mountaineer, enjoy another gourmet breakfast on board and continue west along the banks of the Fraser River as it winds to the Pacific Ocean and the coastal city of Vancouver.

On today’s journey you will see dramatic changes in scenery, from the desert-like environment of the BC Interior, through forests and winding river canyons surrounded by the peaks of the Coast and Cascade Mountains and into the lush green fields of the Fraser Valley. Highlights include the rushing waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon and the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River.

At Vancouver's Rocky Mountaineer Station, you will board a shared motor coach and transfer to the Pan Pacific Hotel (or similar) hotel. Dinner is on your own.

Note: Please be aware that rail travel in Canada is subject to unforeseen delays. The expected arrival time in Vancouver will be between 5:30pm and 7:00pm.

    DAY 6

Following breakfast at your hotel, you will enjoy an exclusive Regent Seven Seas Group tour seeing the city’s most popular sites with a driver-guide. Along the way you will visit Granville Island, Gastown and Stanley Park.

After returning to your hotel in mid-afternoon, the remainder of the day will be at your leisure.

Lunch and dinner are on your own.

    DAY 7

Following breakfast at leisure and check out, you can make your way at your leisure to the check in area for your cruise which is located in Canada Place directly underneath the hotel.

Check out time at the hotel is at 12:00pm.

Please check with your Tour Director or the Reception Team at your hotel for luggage assistance.

    Land Program Step by Step:

Please note: The order of sites visited may vary to avoid congestion. All program details are subject to change. The timings indicated below are approximate, given here for general reference purposes and subject to change. Itineraries with the most up to date details will be issued by our Documents Team approximately 21 days before sailing with your Final Cruise Documents. Please review your final itinerary carefully for any amendments and meeting information. Your Tour Director will provide any further updates along the way if necessary.

Accompanying our exclusive group will be a professional tour director who will handle every aspect of the tour so that you can truly relax and enjoy the beautiful Rocky Mountains. The tour director will check in and out of each hotel on your behalf, ensure your luggage is in the right place at the right time, double check all aspects of the tour are in place, and be available during daylight hours to assist you.

  • See big, bold and genuine Alaska! Follow its scenic highways and famed Alaska Railway into rustic towns and through majestic Denali National Park, visit an Iditarod dog kennel, and view breathtaking, snow-mantled mountains.

    Day 1

After disembarking the ship in Whittier, you will meet your tour director and begin the drive to Girdwood. The road travelled passes through some of America’s most spectacular scenery and holds three scenic designations: USDA Forest Service Scenic Byway, Alaska Scenic Byway, and All-American Road. On the way, enjoy a stop at an organization dedicated to preserving Alaska’s wildlife. The center is a home and a refuge for many animals; bear, moose, elk, and other wildlife that call Alaska home.

Upon arriving and checking in to the beautiful Alyeska Resort, the remainder of the day is at your leisure with any meals on your own. You may wish to enjoy a ride to the top of Mt. Alyeska on the aerial tramway for a spectacular view of the surrounding area with its seven glaciers. Or, perhaps make an appointment at the outdoor Nordic Spa where you can soak in multiple hot and cool pools, make use of their steam rooms or book a massage (costs not included for tram or Nordic Spa). The resort also has an indoor heated pool and hot tub free of charge and several restaurants on site along with a shuttle that will take you to a small array of eateries off site.

    Day 2

After breakfast at the hotel, begin the four-hour scenic drive from Girdwood to Denali via the George Parks Highway, which winds through the kind of scenery that defines the Alaskan interior: tundra, soaring mountain peaks, glaciers, forests, wild rivers, and vast expanses primarily inhabited by animals such as moose, grizzlies, foxes and birds.

Along the way you will visit an Iditarod Sled Dog Kennel and learn about this truly Alaskan competition. Note: this is not a ride with the dogs. Traveling from Anchorage to Nome on the Bering Sea coast, each Iditarod team of 12 to 16 dogs and their musher cover 1,150 miles of Alaska’s most rugged terrain in 10 to 17 days. Add temperatures well below zero, scouring winds, and long hours of darkness, and it is no wonder that the Iditarod is called the last Great Race on Earth.

A boxed lunch will be provided en route.

Once you reach Denali, you will be transferred to the Grande Denali Lodge or similar, which perches on the edge of a bluff less than a mile from the entrance to Denali National Park.

Following an enlightening private lecture on Denali, your evening is free to enjoy dinner on-own and an overnight at the lodge.

    Day 3

The day starts with an early breakfast at the lodge and then the 4.5-hour Denali Natural History Tour. Focusing on the rich natural and cultural history of the park, this program includes several interpretive stops and an hour off-bus experience. Begin with a stop to learn about the creation of the Denali Park Road with the film “Across Time and Tundra.”

Next visit Savage Cabin, the original ranger’s cabin, provides a living history into how the cabin was once used and how it continues to be used today. Finally, you will make a stop at Primrose Ridge to experience a memorable Alaska Native presentation that will enlighten you with how the land has been used for nearly 10,000 years. All along the way your naturalist driver-guide will provide a great introduction to the landscape, geology, and history of Denali National Park and Preserve. Tours are conducted in Denali National Park busses.

NOTE: Depending on time and availability, there may be time to upgrade to the Tundra Wilderness Tour. Your Tour Director will be able to provide more information on cost and availability during your program.

Upon returning to the lodge, enjoy the remainder of the day at your leisure. Dinner is on your own.

    Day 4

After breakfast at the lodge, your morning is free to further enjoy exploring the area in or around Denali National Park before boarding the Alaska Railroad train. As you travel by rail the 4.5 hours to Talkeetna, seating is upstairs in the dome where you will enjoy views from all sides of the railcar. Lunch is included downstairs in the dining room.

After arriving in Talkeetna, whose downtown is a National Historic Site, you will board your motorcoach and continue south to Anchorage where you will check-in to the Marriott Hotel (or similar). The remainder of the day is at your leisure and dinner is on your own.

    Day 5

After breakfast at your hotel, transfer to the Anchorage airport for your flight home.

Hotel check-out time is 11:00am. Late check-out may be arranged and paid directly to the hotel on a space availability basis. For guests with late flights, luggage storage will be available at the hotel.

Driving toward Anchorage, you will pass through a landscape so spectacular it holds three scenic designations: USDA Forest Service Scenic Byway, Alaska Scenic Byway, and All-American Road. Make a stop at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center to see indigenous animals to Alaska in their natural habitat.

In Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city, you will enjoy a brief orientation tour that will present some of the highlights and suggestions for lunch on your own in the downtown.

Following lunch, you will depart for Talkeetna, the quaint Alaskan town that provided the inspiration for the 1990s TV program “Northern Exposure.” It nestles at the confluence of three rivers: the Talkeetna, Chulitna, and Susitna.

After checking in at the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge or similar, you will attend an exclusive reception so you can get to know your travel companions. The evening is open for dinner on your own and to explore Talkeetna.

Although known for its restaurants, brewery and small shops, weather permitting, Talkeetna also offers extraordinary views of Mt. Denali. The highest peak in North America, Mt. Denali can usually be photographed from several locales around town, including the back deck of the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge or similar, where you will spend the evening. Dinner is on your own.

    Day 2

After breakfast at the lodge, board your Deluxe Dome Railcar for the journey to Denali National Park. Seating is upstairs in the dome, which offers incredible views of Alaska’s stunning natural beauty from all sides of the railcar. Lunch is included today onboard the train.

After breakfast at the lodge, you will begin touring Fairbanks, where you will learn of its rich Gold Rush history. A stop will be made at Trail Breaker Kennels to meet the canine athletes that run some of the biggest dog sled races in the world. Located along the Chena River in Fairbanks, Alaska, Trail Breaker Kennel was established in 1980 by the husband and wife team of David Monson (Yukon Quest champion) and Susan Butcher (four-time Iditarod champion). Both were avid mushers and longed to fulfill their dream of mushing full-time and raising a family. In 1993, David and Susan decided to share their love of sled dogs with the public.

Trail Breaker Kennel is now one of the longest operating kennels in Fairbanks where visitors experience and enjoy an Alaskan mushing lifestyle. During the winter months, the Alaskan huskies train for and participate in sled dog races around Alaska. In the summer, the dogs take a break from racing and enjoy short training runs around the lake, swimming in the river, and interacting with visitors from around the world.

Following an included lunch at a restaurant in Fairbanks, you will get to spend time this afternoon at the Fountainhead Antique Auto Collection. This hidden gem rivals most collections found around the world and displays American-made antique automobiles and vintage clothing from Alaska’s post-Gold Rush era. Highlights include early steam, electric and hybrid cars, America’s first V16-powered automobile, and midget racecars. All automobiles in this collection are operational.

The remainder of the day is free for dinner on your own and other optional activities.
