Please note that check-in time at the hotel is at 4:00pm. Although every effort will be made to have the rooms available before this time, this cannot be guaranteed. Should you have a very early morning arrival you may wish to book an extra night so that your room is available when you arrive.
DAY 2
After checking out of the hotel, you will enjoy a half-day tour of Tokyo starting with a visit to the Meiji Jingu Shinto Shrine. Built to venerate Emperor Meiji, who reigned from 1852-1912, it is the largest and most visited shrine in Japan, in part because of its beautiful park-like setting and the fact that Meiji is revered as Japan’s first modern emperor.
Then it’s on to Tokyo Tower, Japan’s second highest structure, which was built in 1958 as a symbol of Japan’s rebirth. After riding an elevator to the nearly 500-foot-high Grand Observation Platform, you will be treated to an astounding view of the city. If the sky is clear, you can see Mt. Fuji.
Following lunch at a local restaurant, you will be transferred to your Odawara hotel to relax at your leisure. A bountiful buffet dinner will be served at the hotel. However, the remainder of the day is yours to enjoy as you please before you spend the evening at the hotel.
DAY 3
Today, you will visit Hakone, a part of the Fuji National Park. Upon arriving at Sounzan, you will board the Ropeway, an aerial tram that affords you wonderful views of the Owakudani Valley. In time, you will stop at Lake Ashi for a scenic cruise. The crystal-clear lake was formed about 3,000 years ago in the caldera left after the volcanic eruption of Mount Hakone. If the conditions are ideal, as they often are, you will see Mt. Fuji and its inverted reflection on the water.
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. On the return to the hotel, you will stop at Odawara Castle, which was originally built in the mid-15th Century. The structure was destroyed in the latter half of the 19th century when political power changed from the Edo shogunate to the Meiji government, and the castle was condemned as the symbol of the samurai.
The castle that now stands is a reconstruction from 1960. However, the moat and stone walls are original. The castle is a three-tiered, five-storied donjon, and its top floor is an observatory.
A traditional Japanese Kaiseki (multi course) dinner will be served at your hotel this evening.
DAY 4
After checking out of the hotel, you will be transferred to cruise terminal where you will embark the ship.
SPECIAL NOTES TO CONSIDER:
•In general, hotel rooms in Japan are smaller than hotel rooms elsewhere around the world. Per Japanese culture, standard typical bedding is two twin beds. Although every effort will be made to obtain rooms with one bed for couples, this cannot be guaranteed. Should you require two beds, kindly make sure to advise this when booking your program.
•Guests on group bookings are not eligible to earn “Hilton Honors Points” or receive Hilton Honors benefits.
•If you require special dietary accommodation for medical or religious reasons (not simply personal preference), please reach out to the Regent Reservations Team at least 95 days before your departure. Ensuring that your land program extension includes this information helps our local vendors provide a seamless and pleasant dining experience.
•By law, to alleviate traffic congestion, there are designated drop-off points for tourist buses. In many cases these points are a long walk from the entrance of the attraction.
•Japanese culture is unique and conservative and as such loud talking, smoking and eating while walking in the streets are frowned upon
•Due to the logistics of this program, it is not available for guests who require use of a wheelchair or scooter and by law guests are not permitted to remain on the tour coaches during stops. Drivers and guides are not able to assist.

Although every effort will be made to have the rooms available before this time, this cannot be guaranteed. Should you have a very early morning arrival you may wish to book an extra night so that your room is available when you arrive.
Luggage Information: Since large pieces of luggage cannot be accommodated on the bullet train and there is no porter assistance at the train station, please prepare a carry-on size piece of luggage per person for Day’s 2-5. Excess luggage will be collected in the morning on Day 2 before departure, stored and then sent directly to the ship. Please remember to label and lock any excess pieces to be stored and bring with you and valuables, medications and documents including your passport.
DAY 2
Begin your day with breakfast at the hotel. Excess luggage to be stored and brought to the cruise terminal on Day 5 will be collected before you depart.
Meet your dedicated guide in the hotel lobby and embark on a seamless transfer to the JR bullet train station, where the adventure truly begins.
Settle into your comfortable seat aboard the cutting-edge JR bullet train and marvel as you glide effortlessly through the Japanese countryside toward Nagano—a scenic journey lasting just 1.5 hours, offering glimpses of picturesque landscapes along the way.
Upon arrival in Nagano, savor a delightful lunch at a carefully selected local venue, where you’ll sample regional flavors and specialties that capture the essence of Japanese cuisine.
The first highlight of the afternoon is the Hokusai Museum, dedicated to the legendary ukiyo-e master Katsushika Hokusai. Opened in 1976, this museum is a treasure trove of Hokusai’s iconic woodblock prints, including vibrant multi-colored Nishiki-e “brocade pictures” and intricate festival floats. Art enthusiasts and curious travelers alike will be captivated by the museum’s engaging exhibits, which reveal Hokusai’s innovative spirit and enduring influence on global art.
Next, enjoy a tranquil stroll along Obuse-kurino Komachi, a charming path paved with chestnut wood. This enchanting walk immerses you in the local culture, as you discover quaint sweets shops offering delectable chestnut treats and meander through beautifully tended gardens. It’s the perfect opportunity to sample handmade confections and soak in the harmonious blend of nature and tradition that defines this unique neighborhood.
Continue your exploration with a visit to the serene Ganshoin Temple, renowned for its breathtaking ceiling painting, a masterpiece of ukiyo-e art created by Hokusai himself. As you step inside, gaze upward to admire the vivid depiction of phoenixes soaring across the ceiling, an awe-inspiring highlight that encapsulates the temple’s spiritual and artistic significance.
As the day draws to a close, gather for dinner and reflect on the day’s discoveries including the timeless beauty of Japanese art and heritage.
Note: Some of the gardens you will see with the signs “Welcome to My Garden” are private gardens – they are open to visitors, but it is asked that you keep talking volume at a lower level out of respect for the owners that may be home. The hotel in Nagano is not a luxury hotel but rooms will be clean and comfortable for your one night stay.
Day 3
Start your day with breakfast at your hotel before checking out and joining your expert guide for an unforgettable journey into the heart of Nagano’s cultural and natural wonders.
Your first stop is the legendary Zenkoji Temple, a spiritual sanctuary that has stood for over 1,300 years, blending majestic Buddhist architecture with serene natural beauty. Marvel at the awe-inspiring main hall—an architectural masterpiece crafted from 60,000 pieces of wood and crowned with a cypress bark roof, now designated as a National Treasure. Venture into the inner chamber, stepping through a mysterious passage where you may discover the fabled hidden key—said to bestow enlightenment upon those who find it, offering a truly unique and spiritual experience.
Next, escape to the tranquil Daio Wasabi Farm, the largest in Japan, nestled amidst Nagano’s peaceful countryside. Stroll along scenic walking trails winding through vibrant wasabi fields and witness firsthand the fascinating process of cultivating this prized Japanese ingredient. Indulge your senses with an array of creative wasabi-inspired treats, including the must-try wasabi ice cream, available at charming on-site shops.
Savor a gourmet lunch at the Wasabi Farm, where fresh, local produce and succulent meats are artfully paired with the farm’s signature wasabi, offering a distinctive taste of Nagano’s culinary heritage.
Your afternoon brings you to the iconic Matsumoto Castle, Japan’s oldest surviving six-story castle and a true architectural marvel. Built in 1594, this historic fortress impresses with its expansive moat, imposing stonework, and breathtaking backdrop of the Northern Alps. Wander through meticulously landscaped gardens and explore the castle’s remarkable wooden interiors, immersing yourself in centuries of samurai history and Japanese elegance.
Proceed to your hotel in Omachi City and surrounded by the Northern Alps of Japan. Here you can relax and unwind by the open fireplace after an adventurous day or enjoy a soothing soak in the naturally warmed hot spring bath.
Check in and conclude your day with dinner at the hotel and a chance to reflect on the exceptional experiences and timeless beauty that define this extraordinary journey through Nagano.
Special Notes:
•To enter the inner chamber of Zenkoji, guests are required to remove their shoes and navigate a narrow staircase that leads into a dark, underground corridor.
•As Daio Wasabi Farm is an active working farm, certain sections may occasionally be restricted due to harvesting, maintenance, or other operations. Depending on the season, access and visibility to some areas may be limited, and black sails or sunshades might be installed over the wasabi fields at various times of the year.
•When visiting Matsumoto Castle, guests must take off their shoes at the entrance and place them in a provided bag, which they will carry throughout their visit inside. The main structure features roughly 140 steps to climb.
DAY 4
Begin your day with breakfast before meeting your guide in the hotel lobby for an unforgettable excursion to Lake Suwa—Nagano Prefecture’s sparkling gem, encircled by majestic mountains.
Take in the mesmerizing, mirrored vistas where peaks and sky reflect in tranquil waters, offering the perfect backdrop for photos and moments of serenity. At Lake Suwa Park’s Geyser Center, witness the dramatic eruption of the lakeside geyser, a spectacle just steps from the building. Relax and rejuvenate with a soothing foot bath on the first floor or immerse yourself in local culture with engaging exhibits upstairs.
Next, savor a taste of Japan’s celebrated wine heritage in Yamanashi, the heartland and birthplace of Japanese winemaking. This renowned region produces about 30% of the country’s wine, thanks to its ideal climate and the signature Koshu grape. Explore a leading local winery, sample historical vintages, and enjoy a gourmet lunch at a local restaurant near the winery.
Afterwards, journey to Takeda Shrine in Kofu, a revered site steeped in samurai legend and spiritual significance. Established in 1919 on the historic grounds of the Takeda family’s residence, the shrine honors Takeda Shingen, Kofu’s most celebrated samurai. Wander through sacred spaces, discover fascinating relics, and visit the iconic “Shingen-ko’s Well” for an authentic glimpse into the storied lifestyle of this legendary clan.
As evening falls, check in to a unique hotel that artfully combines Western comfort and traditional Japanese charm. At this traditional Japanese Ryokan which is located in the highlands at the foot of Mt. Fuji, enjoy spacious rooms with comfortable beds and unwind in private hot spring bath, a soothing way to complete your day of exploration. Note: In keeping with Japanese custom, shoes are removed upon entering your room, enhancing the authentic cultural experience.
Indulge in a delicious dinner at the hotel, reflecting on your remarkable journey through Japan’s picturesque heartland.
Note: Guests must be 20 years or older to enter the winery. Guests will be guided to the VIP room for a brief seminar (with English translation by the guide) and an exclusively arranged wine tasting including 3 kinds of wine
Shoes will need to be removed at the restaurant for lunch.
Day 5
After a restful stay, check out from your hotel and join your guide in the lobby for the final leg of your journey.
Set out on a scenic drive to Oshino Hakkai, a captivating cluster of eight crystal-clear spring ponds designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Fed by pure snowmelt from the slopes of majestic Mt. Fuji, these ponds were honored as one of Japan’s Best Water Sources in 1985. On clear days, marvel at breathtaking views of Mt. Fuji rising in the background—a truly unforgettable sight.
Your journey culminates at the Tokyo Cruise Terminal, where you’ll seamlessly embark on your ship and be reunited with any stored luggage—ushering in the next chapter of your extraordinary Japanese experience.

DAY 2

This forest was intentionally cultivated to honor nature and serves as a tranquil oasis within the city. Visitors are encouraged to experience forest bathing, take time for reflection, and appreciate the peaceful ambiance.
The tour continues past the National Diet Building, providing an opportunity to observe this notable structure that symbolizes Japan’s parliamentary democracy. Renowned for its architectural distinction and historical relevance, the Diet Building stands as a prominent feature in the center of Tokyo.
After enjoying lunch at a local restaurant, the afternoon includes a scenic drive through Akihabara, recognized as a hub of Japanese technology in central Tokyo.
Lunch provides an occasion to sample traditional Japanese cuisine prior to further exploration of Tokyo’s historic Asakusa district.
Gain insight into Japanese religious practices at Sensoji Temple, situated in central Asakusa. The temple, dedicated to Kanno—the deity of mercy—boasts a history spanning more than 1400 years. Proceed with a guided walk through Asakusa, including Nakamise street, which retains the ambiance of the Edo period. Take time to browse shops offering Japanese crafts and confectionery.
After visiting Asakusa, proceed to Tokyo Skytree, the tallest tower in Japan, completed in 2012. Recognized as the world's tallest free-standing tower at 634 meters, it offers panoramic views of the city.
Your tour concludes with a visit to the observation deck, where Mt. Fuji may be visible on clear days. There is also some time to explore Soramachi, a three-story shopping complex with over 300 stores.

The original building was demolished in the 19th century during the change from the Edo shogunate to the Meiji government, as the castle was seen as a symbol of samurai rule.
The current building is a reconstruction completed in 1960; the moat and stone walls are original, and the top floor functions as an observatory.

Also, please note that guests on group bookings such as this program, are not eligible to earn “Hilton Honors Points” or receive Hilton Honors benefits.
DAY 2
Following breakfast at the hotel, depart on a half-day tour of the city.
Visit the Tokyo National Museum established 1872, it is one of the oldest museums in Japan. The Museum Collection comprises art and archaeological objects of Asia, focusing on Japan. There are a total of approximately 120,000 objects of which 89 are National Treasures and 649 Important Cultural Properties.
Continue to the Ginza area, one of the most luxurious shopping districts in the world. The streets in Ginza are lined with numerous departments stores, boutiques, restaurants, and bars. Upon arrival you will enjoy some free time to browse, shop or perhaps visit some of the free galleries.
You can choose to either remain in Ginza and make your own way back to the hotel or return with the group.
The remainder of the day is at your leisure with lunch and dinner on your own.
DAY 3
Following breakfast at the hotel, you will begin yet another half-day tour of Tokyo, allowing you to see the city from a different perspective.
You will first journey to the Asakusa area – part of Tokyo’s Old Town. Visit the Asakusa Senso-ji Temple, which was founded in the early 7th century. Weather permitting, you will enter through a gate decorated with a huge red paper lantern to view the shrine. The architecture is stunning, as this temple is the country’s oldest and one of the most revered. One of the highlights is a walk down Nakamise-dori, known as the “Street of Inside Shops,” an alley lined with vendors selling traditional food, souvenirs, and handmade crafts.
You will have a photo stop at the Imperial Palace Plaza (no interior visit), where Japan’s Emperor and Empress reside. Surrounded by a moat, the palace was formerly known as Edo Castle, and samurai warriors lived there in the 17th through 19th centuries. In the large plaza in front of the palace, you can view the famed Nijubashi—two bridges that form an entrance to the inner palace grounds. The stone bridge in front is called Meganebashi (Eyeglass Bridge) for its looks.
You can choose to either remain in the area and make your own way back to the hotel or return with the group.
The remainder of the day is at your leisure with lunch and dinner on your own.
DAY 4
After breakfast and check-out, you will visit Meiji Shrine. Dedicated to the Emperor Meiji, the father of modern Japan, the beautiful shrine stands in a dense forest glade of some 120,000 trees of 365 different species, at the very heart of Tokyo. The setting symbolizes the separation of the spiritual from the world. You enter the shrine through twin 40-feet tall Torii gates, one of the largest in all Japan. This shrine is a popular place for traditional Japanese weddings, if you are lucky, you might get to see one.
From the peaceful green oasis surrounding Meiji Shrine you will continue to the beautiful Hamarikyu Garden, an Edo Period Japanese garden surrounded by the Shiodome district’s futuristic skyscrapers. This provides a great example of how Japan is the land of contrasts. The garden was originally built as a feudal lord's Tokyo residence and duck hunting grounds during the Edo Period but later served as a strolling garden and as an Imperial detached palace before eventually being opened to the public in its current form.
Continue to the modern Odaiba area. When the sprawling metropolis, that is Tokyo nowadays, ran out of space, they inevitably turned toward the sea. Odaiba is a man-made island created by massive landfills, featuring many hypermodern and strange buildings memorably described as the result of a Pre-schooler’s architecture class. You will have the chance to enjoy it from above, during a visit to an observation deck, located in one of Odaiba’s most iconic buildings: the headquarters of Fuji Television.
It is then on to the cruise ship terminal for embarkation.
NOTE:
The day the Tokyo National Museum and the Odaiba Observation deck are visited could vary, as both are closed on Mondays.

DAY 1 – October 31, 2026
Disembark the ship in Tokyo, collect your luggage and meet your guide.
Your Tokyo exploration will commence with a panoramic drive through Ginza, Tokyo's renowned upscale district celebrated for its shopping, dining, and entertainment options, as well as its numerous department stores.
Next, proceed to the Tokyo National Museum, the oldest and largest national museum in Japan, which houses an extensive collection of artwork and archaeological artifacts ranging from ancient pieces dating back to 11,000 BC to works from the Edo period (early 19th century).
Note: There is a five-minute walk from the bus drop-off point to the museum entrance, with a few steps required to enter; however, an elevator is available within the museum.
Following lunch at a local restaurant, travel to Hakone, pausing en route to visit Odawara Castle. This historic three-tiered, five-storied structure was originally constructed in the mid-15th century but was destroyed in the late 19th century during the transition from Edo shogunate to the Meiji government, as it symbolized the samurai. The current castle was reconstructed beginning in 1960, though the original moat and stone walls remain intact.
Note: there is no elevator to access the upper levels, but some areas are accessible.
Your journey continues to the Fujiya Hotel in Hakone, named in honor of Mount Fuji, an iconic symbol of Japan. Established in 1878, this distinguished resort hotel withstood numerous challenges, including natural disasters, and many of its buildings have been designated as tangible cultural properties. Guests are invited to appreciate the rich history and picturesque environment surrounding the hotel. The property features traditional Japanese hot spring baths, ideal for therapeutic relaxation, with access to the Miyanoshita hot spring, one of Hakone’s seven celebrated springs.
In the evening, a western, set dinner menu will be served to the group.

At the conclusion of your day, return to Tokyo and check in to your hotel. The remainder of the evening will be at your leisure and dinner is on own.
DAY 3 – November 2, 2026

From your base in Tokyo, you will visit some of the most impressive sights of Japan, including various ancient temples as well as some of its modern and natural wonders. Tour the 7th-century Sensoji Temple in Asakusa and visit the Odaiba Observation Deck, located in the headquarters of Fuji Television. Discover Tokyo’s fascinating Shogun history or Japan’s rich tradition of art at superb museums, stroll through beautiful gardens and during your leisure time, perhaps take in the high-energy atmosphere of Ginza, Tokyo’s premier shopping and entertainment district.
NOTE:
In general, hotel rooms in Japan are smaller than hotel rooms elsewhere around the world. In Japanese culture, standard typical bedding is two twin beds. Although every effort will be made to obtain rooms with one bed for couples, this cannot be guaranteed. Should you require two beds, kindly make sure to advise this when booking your program. Also, please note that guests on group bookings such as this program, are not eligible to earn “Hilton Honors Points” or receive Hilton Honors benefits.
DAY 1
Upon disembarkation in either Tokyo or Yokohama you will be met by your guide at the port and begin your tour of Tokyo.
Visit the modern Odaiba area.
Continue to the beautiful Hamarikyu Garden, an Edo Period Japanese garden surrounded by the Shiodome district’s futuristic skyscrapers. This provides a great example of how Japan is the land of contrasts. The garden was originally built as a feudal lord's Tokyo residence and duck hunting grounds during the Edo Period but later served as a strolling garden and as an Imperial detached palace before eventually being opened to the public in its current form.
After lunch at a local restaurant, you will visit the Meiji Shrine. Dedicated to the Emperor Meiji, the father of modern Japan, the beautiful shrine stands in a dense forest glade of some 120,000 trees of 365 different species, at the very heart of Tokyo. You enter the shrine through twin 40-feet tall Torii gates, one of the largest in all Japan. This shrine is a popular place for traditional Japanese weddings, if you are lucky, you might get see one.
Continue to your hotel for check-in. The remainder of the day is at your leisure with dinner on your own.
DAY 2
Following breakfast at the hotel, depart on a half-day tour of the city.
Stop for photos at the Imperial Palace Plaza (no interior visit), where Japan’s Emperor and Empress reside.
DAY 4
Enjoy one last breakfast at your hotel before checking out and transferring to either the Narita or the Haneda International Airports. Your transfer time will be based on the flight details provided and relayed while you are on the program. Should you have a late departing flight, luggage storage will be available at the hotel. Check out time is at 11:00am.
