RESUMEN
Follow a costumed night watchman through Rostock’s oldest district in the evening and hear entertaining, often spine-chilling stories about the city’s history. To enhance the ambiance, the night watchman – dressed in black from top hat to toe – will lead you by lantern light through the narrow cobblestone streets and alleyways that mark eastern Rostock. You will learn what life was like centuries ago when night watchmen patrolled the streets to maintain law and order. Architectural landmarks from medieval times still stand as you will discover at St. Mary’s, a massive brick church that has dominated New Market Square since the 13th century. You will also walk down Kropelin Street, a pedestrianized thoroughfare lined with fine shops and gabled Gothic-style homes. Afterwards, you will stop at local haunt for a dark draft beer and Bortzeit, a snack of bread, sausages and other local specialties. The night watchman will continue to regale you with stories there.
