RESUMEN

Gain a historical understanding of Dubrovnik and Kotor by exploring these two UNESCO World Heritage sites, which are renowned for their outstanding medieval architecture. You will enter Dubrovnik’s atmospheric Old Town through the 15th-century Pile Gate. It leads to the main street, commonly known as the Stradun, where you may see highlights such as the polygonal Fountain of Onofrio, the compact Saint Savior Church and the Old Pharmacy, which was founded in 1317 to serve the Franciscan friars. Once you cross the border into Montenegro, you will browse some of the most characteristic medieval buildings in Kotor. Among them is the 12th-century St. Tryphon Cathedral, which holds the namesake saint’s relics in a silver coffin. Be sure to see the still-vibrant frescoes, as well. Perusing the exhibits in the Maritime Museum will offer more insight into the history of Kotor, which was once a naval power. How fitting that a ferry across the Adriatic will take you back to Dubrovnik.
