•During early morning game drives in open vehicles it can be a little cool. We recommend that guests take along a windbreaker.

•During the day, it can get hot. The game drive vehicles may not be covered therefore guests may be exposed to the elements. Guests are therefore advised not to forget their sunhats, sun block, sunglasses, as well as their cameras and binoculars.

•The roads in the game reserve are gravel. También hay pendientes y en ciertos tramos del avistamiento puede haber desniveles. Not recommended for guests with back & neck problems or pregnant ladies.

    Credit cards:

Most international hotels accept most standard credit cards as a payment for your “extras” account. As a general rule, we would suggest that you allow sufficient local currency to cover the cost of any additional service at hotels, as many of the small lodges and game lodges do not have credit card facilities. MasterCard and Visa are widely accepted, with more limited use placed on American Express and Diners Card.

South Africa’s electrical systems are 220/230 volts A/C 50 cycles. Most hotels have hair dryers and plug adaptors in the bedrooms. It’s always best if you bring electric appliances, take along an international converter kit complete with a set of adapter plugs.

Be aware, however, that overnight recharging may not be possible where generator use restricts the availability of electricity.

NOTE - There is no Wi-Fi or cellphone signal at this exclusive and remote safari lodge, allowing complete relaxation for guests. Cellphone signal is only available at the entrance gates and close to Skukuza, it is therefore recommended to make any necessary calls at the gate upon entry.

  • OVERLAND - KRUGER SHALATI: TRAIN ON THE BRIDGE CODE: MPML08

Travel to Kruger National Park, one of Africa’s premier reserves, for up to eight superb game drive opportunities. Here your chances of seeing the Big Five, Little Five and the Birding Six are excellent as you watch from the comfort of an open air 4x4 vehicle. Spend your leisure time and evenings at the brand new (opening winter 2020) Kruger Shalati: Train on the Bridge – a unique luxury train hotel that is permanently stationed high above the Sabie River where the views in either direction are infinite.

Nota Especial: Any guests travelling with Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines should read further below for airline stipulations with regards to bringing this equipment on tour.

    Day 1 – 1 de mayo de 2023

Upon disembarkation in Maputo, you will be met by a local English-speaking tour guide for your transfer to the Southern section of the Kruger National Park and your hotel for the next 4 nights: Kruger Shalati: The Train on the Bridge. Transfer time is approximately 4 hours. (a snack box will be provided for the journey)

AVISO: At the Mozambique/South Africa border post, guests will disembark and proceed through South African Immigration and customs control. Please ensure your passport has at least 2 blank pages for any stamps that may be issued. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months after the entry date.

Kruger National Park, South Africa’s largest game reserve, was established in 1898 to protect the wildlife of the South African lowveld. With nearly 2 million hectares of land that stretch for 352 kilometres (218 miles) from north to south along the Mozambique border, this wildlife sanctuary is like no other. Its atmosphere is so unique that it allows those who enter its vastness to immerse themselves in the unpredictability and endless wilderness that is the true quality of Africa. Certainly, it ranks with the best in Africa and is the flagship of the country’s national parks - rated as the ultimate safari experience.

This is the land of baobabs, fever trees, knob thorns, marula and mopane trees underneath which lurk the Big Five (buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion and rhino), the Little Five (buffalo weaver, elephant shrew, leopard tortoise, ant lion and rhino beetle), the birding Big Six (ground hornbill, kori bustard, lappet-faced vulture, martial eagle, pel’s fishing owl and saddle-bill stork) and more species of mammals than in any other African Game Reserve. Kruger National Park is unrivalled in the diversity of its life forms and a world leader in advanced environmental management techniques and policies.

Your accommodations, the Train on the Bridge is a first-of-its-kind luxury accommodation in a re-envisioned train stationed on the historically rich Selati Bridge above the Sabie River in Kruger National Park. The name has its origins in the history of Chief Warrior Shalati, who lived near this river in the region of Skukuza and ruled over the Tebula tribe.

Kruger Shalati pays homage to the guests who explored the park and Skukuza Camp nearly 100 years ago as this is where the first visits to the iconic park were allowed in the early 1920s. Back then the train would park overnight in the exact spot where Kruger Shalati is positioned.

Upon arrival at Kruger Shalati enjoy a welcome drink followed by check-in formalities and then lunch after which you will be shown to your unique carriage room.

The large, glass-walled train rooms allow for unsurpassed views along the length of the majestic Sabie River while the style of the train celebrates African design with the use of local art and crafting skills. High above the riverbanks, aligned with the floor level of the train, lies a bespoke deck with pool, offering a swimming experience unlike any other – with crocodile, hippos, buffalos and elephants possibly hanging about only meters below – an experience for guests unlike any other!

After settling in to your room, gather for afternoon tea, followed by an open vehicle game drive in search of the ‘Big 5’ as well as numerous other wildlife & birdlife.

Return to the hotel and enjoy traditional cuisine at the Bridge House Restaurant before retiring for the evening.

    Day 2, 3 & 4 - 2 may, 3 and 4, 2023

Spend three glorious full days in Kruger National Park.

Receive an early morning wake-up call and enjoy tea, coffee and biscuits prior to your morning game drives. Each day an exciting adventure awaits as your game drives showcase the wildlife and nature of the southern region of Kruger National Park.

Bounded by the Crocodile River in the south and the Sabie River in the north, the southern region is also host to the jagged ridge of the Lebombo Mountains along the border with Mozambique, and the highest point in the park, Khandzalive, in the southwestern. The valleys are home to trees rarely found in other parts of the Kruger park, such as the Cape chestnut, coral tree and lavender fever-berry.

On the whole, there is more wildlife purported to exist in the southern part of the park so whilst you are enjoying the spectacular scenery, you might even spot some or all of the “big five”.

Return to Kruger Shalati where breakfast is served, followed with some time at leisure. Relax in your carriage room, retreat to the lounge carriage with bar or perhaps enjoy its adjacent deck and overhanging pool overlooking the river. It’s the perfect spot for a swim while watching the wildlife roam about beneath you.

Optional activities will be available such as guided walks and helicopter rides. A full list of activities will be available to you once you arrive. Some activities will incur an additional cost payable directly to the hotel.

Following afternoon tea, commence on a late afternoon game drive.

Return from your game drive followed by dinner at the hotel.

Day 5 – 5 may. 2023 - timings are depending on flight schedules

Enjoy one last morning game drive followed by breakfast and check-out formalities.

A lodge representative will transfer you to the Skukuza Airport for your flight to Cape Town.

On arrival at Cape Town International Airport, you are met and transferred to Cape Town harbor where you will re-embark the ship.

  • OVERLAND: KRUGER AND LION SANDS NARINA LODGE CODE: MPML02

Travel to one of Africa’s premier reserves for multiple game drive opportunities to observe the country’s most iconic animals in their natural habitats. Kruger National Park is South Africa’s largest game reserve and the chances are excellent of seeing the Big Five—lions, elephants, leopards, rhinos and Cape buffalo. It is also home to the Little Five and the birding Big Six, a diversity of animals that are among the most exciting to watch, especially from the comfort of an open-air 4x4 vehicle. Staying at the luxurious Lion Sands Narina Lodge will take your adventure into the bush to a whole new level.

Nota Especial: Any guests travelling with Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines should read further below for airline stipulations with regards to bringing this equipment on tour.

    DÍA 1: 1 de mayo de 2023

Upon disembarkation in Maputo, you will be met and transferred to the Maputo Airport for a flight to Johannesburg. Here you will spend the night before continuing to Kruger National Park.

You will be met at the airport and escorted on a short walk to the hotel which is located in the terminal of the airport. Dinner is included at the hotel this evening.

AVISO: Upon arrival in South Africa you will proceed through South African Immigration and customs control. Please ensure your passport has at least 2 blank pages for any stamps that may be issued. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months after the entry date.

    DÍA 2: 2 de mayo de 2023

Following a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, complete check-out formalities and return to the airport to check in for a flight to Skukuza Airport, located inside the Kruger National Park.

On arrival at Skukuza Airport, you are met by a lodge representative and transferred to Lion Sands Narina Lodge (10-minute drive by 4x4 game vehicle), set along the banks of the perennial Sabie River, located on a private concession within the Kruger National Park.

The lodge, like the Narina Trogon bird after which it is named, is astonishingly beautiful, yet blends unassumingly into the natural environment. The style of Narina is that of a luxurious treehouse, where the main areas link to the nine private suites via raised wooden walkways. Perched on stilts under a canopy of 100-year-old trees just up from the water, Narina Lodge offers you a wonderful sense of remoteness and peace.

The lodge’s nine luxury suites are built to afford complete privacy in a wilderness where you can watch the animals come down to the water from your pool and deck, as well as bed and bath. This is where those in search of space and peace come to be in nature.

Upon arrival at Lion Sands Narina Lodge, enjoy lunch, followed by check-in formalities.

Then enjoy some time at leisure before meeting at the main lodge for afternoon tea prior to your game drive.

Lion Sands private concession conserves 12 400ha (30 600ac) of habitat that is home to the highest and most diverse concentration of wildlife in the southern hemisphere. You can see all of Africa’s iconic species here, including all of the Big Five, along with 137 mammal species and over 450 varieties of birds.

Following an incredible evening safari, return to the lodge and enjoy dinner at the restaurant with views over the river.

    DAYS 3 AND 4: 3 may and 4th, 2023

Spend two glorious days in the bushveld, enjoying early morning and sunset game drives, leisurely meals, free time enjoying the sounds of nature, time in your suite or time around the pool.

Hot and cold beverages will be waiting for you after your early morning wake-up call and then head out for a morning game drive showcasing the wildlife and nature of the southern region of Kruger National Park.

Return to your lodge and enjoy breakfast and some free time at your suite or at the pool.

A leisurely lunch can be enjoyed at the lodge. Enjoy some more free time in the afternoon before commencing on your late afternoon game drive. Dinner will be served on your return to the lodge.

If you wish to do a guided bush walk, this can be arranged during one of the mornings (included, but pre-arrangements required at the lodge). Led by your expert guides, these are the lodges’ walks on the wild side. For those who want to experience the bush, beyond observing it, there is no more real excursion. Feel the grass brush your hands, hear the crunch of scrub nearby, and spot game appear just meters off – it’s truly exhilarating!

In addition to the excellent Big Five game viewing, specialist activities include a hippo experience; stargazing; wildlife lectures; bush breakfasts, picnic lunches and bush dinners. Additional charges may apply to certain optional activities which must be booked at and paid directly to the lodge.

    DÍA 5: 5 de mayo de 2023

Enjoy one last morning game drive followed by breakfast and check-out formalities.
