Upon disembarkation in Richards Bay Harbor, you will be met by a local English-speaking tour guide for your transfer to Richards Bay Airport. Check in for a flight to Skukuza Airport.

Once you land, collect your luggage and meet your local representative to transfer to Kruger Shalati Lodge in The Kruger National Park. Transfer time is approximately 20 minutes.

Arrive at Kruger Shalati and enjoy a welcome drink. Before check-in formalities enjoy lunch after which you will be shown to your unique carriage rooms. The glass-walled, large train rooms allow for infinite views along the length of the majestic Sabie River while the style of the train is a celebration of African design in collaboration with local art and crafting skills. High above the riverbanks, aligned with the floor level of the train, lies a bespoke deck with pool, offering a swimming experience unlike any other – with crocodile, hippos, buffalos and elephants greeting guests’ meters below – a vista unlike any other!

Kruger National Park was established in 1898 to protect the wildlife of the South African lowveld, this wildlife sanctuary is like no other. Its atmosphere is so unique that it allows those who enter its vastness to immerse themselves in the unpredictability and endless wilderness that is the true quality of Africa.

It is largest game reserve in South Africa and is larger than Israel. Nearly 2 million hectares of land that stretch for (20 000 square kilometres from north to south along the Mozambique border, is given over to an almost indescribable wildlife experience. Certainly, it ranks with the best in Africa and is the flagship of the country’s national parks - rated as the ultimate safari experience.

The Train on the Bridge is a first-of-its-kind luxury accommodation in a re-envisioned train stationed on the historically rich Selati Bridge above the Sabie River in the Kruger National Park. This luxury accommodation in the Kruger pay homage to the guests who explored the park nearly 100 years ago while welcoming new explorers from near and far. The train celebrates where the first visits to the iconic park were allowed in the early 1920s, the train would park overnight in the exact spot where Kruger Shalati is positioned.

Gather for afternoon tea, followed by an open vehicle game drive in search of the ‘Big 5’ as well as numerous other wildlife and birdlife.

Return to the lodge and enjoy traditional dinner at the Bridge House Restaurant.

DAY 2, 3 & 4 – 5 may, 6, 7, 2026

Wake up and experience an early morning game drive, led by an experienced game ranger, spend the morning in the bush, searching for wildlife, bird life and the infamous big five.

Return to the lodge for a sumptuous breakfast.

Take the time to relax, enjoy the scenic surroundings of the lodge and unwind before your next adventure.

During your free time you can choose to nap, venture to the lounge or perhaps indulge in a spa treatment (additional cost and payable directly to the lodge). Kruger Shalati also boasts an impressive viewing deck complete with a beautiful overhanging pool. Set in tranquil surrounds with the Sabie River flowing below, it provides an unsurpassed combination of wildlife spotting and relaxation.

After some time at leisure, enjoy a delectable afternoon lunch, before some afternoon tea and heading out on your afternoon game drive.

Return to the lodge and freshen up before dinner is served.

May – This is a transitional month and marks the end of summer. Temperatures are cooling down to typically 12°C/54°F in the morning and 27°C/81°F in the afternoon. Midwinter is June and midsummer is December and January. The climate varies from region to region but is generally mild throughout the year. Expect it to be hot during the day and much cooler in the evenings.

Carriage of Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines on internal flights per airline regulations (subject to change as each airline has their own regulations)

1. Guests must obtain a Doctor’s Certificate mentioning their medical condition and the need to carry this equipment with them on their flights.

2. The certificate should have attached a picture of the equipment with its description/specifications especially with regards to the type of batteries used (lithium/dry or any other type)

3. These documents need to be sent to the Land Program Team via Reservations at RSSC at least one month prior to travel so that our local operator can begin the notification process with the airline(s).

4. Failure to comply with the above regulations may result in a denial of this equipment at the airport for which Regent Seven Seas Cruises nor our local ground operator be responsible for.

Upon disembarkation in Richards Bay, you will be met by an English-speaking representative who will accompany you on the 2-2.5-hour road transfer to Thanda Private Game Reserve. Make sure to have a hearty breakfast before you depart.

Thanda is a spectacular private game reserve set in 14,000 hectares of Big 5 indigenous bush. Thanda Safari Lodge is the reserve’s flagship property. Each of the 9 suites has their own majestic master bedroom, double sided fireplace, large bathroom and indoor and outdoor showers. The common areas include an inviting lounge, an expansive deck overlooking a watering hole, a cigar bar, a wine cellar and the Thanda Safari Spa.

On arrival at the main entrance gate, you will be met by game rangers who will transfer you to your lodge in 4-wheel drive open vehicles.

After lunch and some time to freshen up you will depart on an afternoon game drive. These are conducted in 4-wheel drive open vehicles, allowing for total freedom of movement and the ability to leave the road and track down Africa's Big 5. After dark, spotlights are used, providing you with the opportunity to view nocturnal creatures and carnivores on the hunt.

Sundowners and light snacks will be served at a clearing in the bush following your game drive with the possibility of viewing several nocturnal wildlife species.

Return to the lodge to freshen up before dinner is served.

Depart from the lodge on an early morning game-drive in open 4x4 vehicles, accompanied by your rangers and trackers.

Return to the lodge for breakfast, after which you will check-out and transfer to the main entrance where you will board your vehicle for your road transfer to Richards Bay. Travelling time is approximately 2-2.5 hours.

At Thanda: Subtropical climate with hot, humid, wet summers (September to April). Much of the rainfall comes in the form of short, intense afternoon thunderstorms. Rain can be expected 12 months of the year. Daytime temperatures in summer may rise above 35°C/95°F. Mornings and evenings may be cool.

Light cotton tops and cotton trousers/shorts in summer, safari trousers and warm fleece tops for evenings and cooler days, swimwear, a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen, comfortable walking shoes, camera film and batteries, personal toiletries, binoculars, and windbreakers.

Thanda Safari borders on a low-risk malaria area. It is recommended that guests use a mosquito repellent on exposed skin.

Drive through South Africa’s oldest game reserve in an open-air, 4x4 vehicle that allows for unobstructed views of the quintessential wildlife. Once the exclusive hunting grounds of Zulu monarch Shaka, the reserve is now renowned for its rhino conservation and for the abundance of other animals. The Big Five—lions, elephants, leopards, rhinos and Cape buffalo—are often spotted here, and you will have plenty of chances to see them on early-morning and afternoon game drives. When out in the bushveld enjoying sundowners and snacks late in the day, you may observe species that become much more active as the sun sets. You will stay at Biyela Lodge, a magnificent property overlooking the Imfolozi River, from which you may watch animals drinking below.

mFulaWozi Biyela Lodge, named after Chief Biyela, is a testament to the modern safari lifestyle. It is tiered on a descending cliff overlooking an oxbow lagoon in the White iMfolozi River. The lodge is home to 12 private villas. Biyela’s clean, minimalist theme provides the perfect contrast to the ever-green Zululand bushveld.

Depart Richards Bay Harbour and drive approximately 2 hours to the Phinda Private Game Reserve.

Upon arriving at the Phinda Forest Lodge, you will enjoy a welcome drink while checking in, Afterwards, you will have time to settle into your accommodations before lunch and then departing on an afternoon game drive.

The spectacular Forest Lodge is set deep in the heart of a rare and beautiful dry sand forest. The eco-sensitive structures of the lodge are inventively designed in Zulu Zen style and the glass walls of Phinda Forest Lodge’s air-conditioned suites offer a sweeping view of one of the most unique ecosystems on the planet.

Late afternoon is one of the prime times to view wildlife, as it’s cooler and the animals are more active. While there is no telling what you will observe, the reserve is home to countless animals, including the Big Five: elephant, lion, leopard, rhinoceros, and Cape buffalo. Herds of elephants are often seen meandering through the fever tree forests, while white rhinoceroses are usually found grazing on the grassland.

Following the game drive, sundowners and light snacks will be served at a clearing in the bush, where you might see nocturnal wildlife. In time, you will return to the lodge for dinner and to spend the evening.

DAY 2 and DAY 3

Each day begins with an early-morning wakeup call, followed by tea, coffee and biscuits in the lounge. This too is an ideal time for wildlife viewing. As before, you will head into the bush in an open-topped 4x4 vehicle, accompanied by knowledgeable rangers and trackers who are skilled at pointing out the various animals.

You may catch sight of a shy red duiker grazing on fallen leaves and fruit. The elegant nyala antelope is seen even more frequently, as Phinda boasts one of the highest densities of the species. The male nyala has a dark brown coat, yellow legs and shaggy mane, making it particularly spectacular. The female nyala features a less flashy, but no less beautiful chestnut coat. Of course, the Big Five always command attention and they are abundant.

Following your game drive, you will return to the lodge for breakfast, followed by leisure time throughout the day to perhaps take a nap or maybe relax around the rim flow pool that overlooks a small waterhole. Enjoy an in-room massage treatment or participate in one of the optional activities provided by the lodge. Optional activities may include bush walks, cultural excursions, conservation experiences, scuba safaris and specialist safaris such as birding, photographic, tracking, luxury walking safaris (additional expenses may apply for spa and optional activities and space must be reserved and paid for at the lodge)

Lunch and afternoon tea are included before meeting for your evening game drive.

Following the game drive, sundowners and light snacks will be served at a clearing in the bush, where you might see nocturnal wildlife. In time, you will return to the lodge for dinner and to spend the evening.

Following one last morning game drive, enjoy a hearty breakfast followed by time to gather your personal belongings and completing check-out formalities.

Transfer by road to the Durban Airport. Transfer time is approximately 4 hours. A boxed lunch prepared by the lodge will be provided for the drive.

Check in for the flight to Cape Town where upon arrival you will be met and transferred to the harbor to re-board the ship.

Luggage information:

Guests are permitted to check-in free of charge one suitcase not weighing more than 20kg/44 lbs per bag. One small carry on (6kg /13 lbs) is also permitted per person which must fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you. Excess or overweight luggage will be charged accordingly at check in for your flight.

2. The certificate should have attached a picture of the equipment with its description/specifications especially with regards to the type of batteries used (lithium/dry or any other type)

3. These documents need to be sent to the Land Program Team via the Reservations Team at least one month prior to travel so that our local operator can begin the notification process with the airline(s).

4. Failure to comply with the above regulations may result in a denial of this equipment at the airport for which the cruise line nor our local ground operator be responsible for.

Upon disembarkation in Richard’s Bay, you will be met by an English-speaking representative who will accompany you on a 2- 2.5 hour road transfer to Thanda Private Game Reserve.

Thanda is a spectacular private game reserve set in 14,000 hectares of Big 5 indigenous bush. Thanda Safari Lodge is the reserve’s flagship property. Each of the 9 suites has their own majestic master bedroom, double sided fireplace, large bathroom and indoor and outdoor showers. The common areas include an inviting lounge, an expansive deck overlooking a watering hole, a cigar bar, a wine cellar and the Thanda Safari Spa.

On arrival at the main entrance gate, you will be met by game rangers who will transfer you to your lodge in 4-wheel drive open vehicles.

After check-in and some time to freshen up, enjoy afternoon tea before departing on an afternoon game drive. These are conducted in 4-wheel drive open vehicles, allowing for total freedom of movement and the ability to leave the road and track down Africa's Big 5. After dark, spotlights are used, providing you with the opportunity to view nocturnal creatures and carnivores on the hunt.

Sundowners and light snacks will be served at a clearing in the bush following your game drive.

Return to the lodge to freshen up before dinner is served.

Once you land, collect your luggage, and meet your local representative to transfer to Jock Safari Lodge located in Kruger National Park. Transfer time is approximately 1.5 hours.

Kruger National Park was established in 1898 to protect the wildlife of the South African lowveld, this wildlife sanctuary like no other. Its atmosphere so unique that it allows those who enter its vastness to immerse themselves in the unpredictability and endless wilderness that is the true quality of Africa.

It is largest game reserve in South Africa and is larger than Israel. Nearly 2 million hectares of land that stretch for 20 000 square kilometers from north to south along the Mozambique border, is given over to an almost indescribable wildlife experience. Certainly, it ranks with the best in Africa and is the flagship of the country’s national parks - rated as the ultimate safari experience.

Upon arrival, check in and have lunch (time dependent) before settling into your room.

Jock Safari Lodge incorporates the romance and elegance of the past colonial era and reflects in its unique style the indigenous Zulu and Shangaan cultures. Enjoy a leisurely lunch at the lodge followed by some free time in the afternoon to explore before commencing on your late afternoon game drive.

Upon arriving to the lodge some time to freshen up before dinner is served.

In addition to the excellent Big Five game viewing, other activities include daily wilderness walks, bird watching and nearby golf at Leopard Creek Golf Course, while the Relaxation Retreat will ensure guests truly unwind. Additional charges will apply to certain optional activities which are payable directly to the lodge.

Return to the lodge and gather your belongings, followed by check-out formalities. You will be met at the lodge by a local representative and transferred to Kruger Mpumalanga airport for your flight to Cape Town International Airport. Transfer time to the airport is approximately 2.5 hours. Breakfast packs will be provided for your transfer.

Arrive at Cape Town Airport and collect your luggage. You will be met and transferred to Cape Town Cruise Terminal to rejoin your awaiting cruise ship.

1. Guests must obtain a Doctor’s Certificate mentioning their medical condition and the need to carry this equipment with them on their flights.

2. The certificate should have attached a picture of the equipment with its description/specifications especially with regards to the type of batteries used (lithium/dry or any other type)

3. These documents need to be sent to the Land Program Team via Reservations at RSSC at least one month prior to travel so that our local operator can begin the notification process with the airline(s).

Upon disembarkation in Richards Bay, you will be met by an English-speaking representative who will accompany you on your road transfer to Leopard Mountain. The travelling time is approx. 2 hours. Eat a hearty breakfast before you depart. A light snack will be provided on the drive.

Leopard Mountain lodge has eight well appointed, stone chalets nestled in the cliff tops overlooking the river below. Each has its own hammock and plunge pool on a private balcony as well as a mini bar, tea and coffee facilities, mosquito nets over the beds and an en-suite bathroom with twin vanities.

On arrival at the main entrance gate, you will be met by game rangers who will transfer you to your lodge in 4-wheel drive open vehicles. A light lunch is followed by check-in and then you will be shown to your room.

Gather for high tea before departing on an evening game drive with the possibility of viewing several nocturnal wildlife species. Enjoy sundowners and light snacks in the bush before returning to the lodge to freshen up for dinner.

As the day comes to end, you can sit around the bonfire and share stories of the day’s wildlife encounters with the other guests or retire to your chalet to enjoy a sherry on your deck, listening to Africa’s night chorus of distant lion roars, hyenas whooping or baboons barking in the river bed below.

Early morning wake-up call for some tea and coffee before departing on your morning game drive.

On this morning game drive, your guide will use their local knowledge of the area taking you to the spots best for game viewing at this time of the day. Using their knowledge, their tracking abilities and of course natures luck, you will find the wildlife you most would like to see.

On return to the lodge, enjoy breakfast in the dining room after which you can have a leisurely morning at your own pace or you can take some quality time for yourself and be pampered at the Africology Spa.

At lunch time you can enjoy a light picnic basket lunch around the bird pond, on the main lodge deck or on your own private balcony.

In the afternoon, you will be invited to come and enjoy afternoon tea on the main deck as you overlook the distant Lebombo Mountain Range. Afterwards you will go with your guide to explore different areas of the reserve on an afternoon drive. Along the way you will be treated to a magnificent African sunset! On return to the lodge, freshen up before dining at the ‘million star’ boma where you will be treated to an exquisite African inspired meal and can pair it with an award-winning wine from the cellar.

As each day comes to an end, sit around the bonfire and share your exciting stories of the days’ wildlife encounters with the other guests or retire to your suite to enjoy a sherry on your deck and listen as Africa's night chorus unfolds with distant lion roars, hyenas whooping, or baboons barking at lurking Leopards in the river bed below.

After an early morning wake-up call, enjoy coffee, tea and snacks before embarking on your morning safari.

What you see this morning will depend entirely on what nature delivers, but rest assure you will leave wanting to return to this piece of paradise.

On return to the lodge, enjoy breakfast in the dining room after which you will depart for a short 1-hour transfer to Zuka Private Game Reserve - an incredibly diverse conservation area boasting lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo, cheetah and leopard. There is also an abundance of plains game including impala, zebra, wildebeest, warthog, nyala, bushbuck, giraffe, a plethora of birds and it’s particularly famous for its awe-inspiring cheetah sightings.

This reserve occupies 10,300 hectares of the Munywana Conservancy, a formal protected area bordering the UNESCO World Heritage Site iSimangaliso Wetland Park in northern KwaZulu Natal, South Africa.

After returning to the lodge, you will enjoy breakfast overlooking the Msunduzi Valley before being transferred to Durban where you will rejoin your vessel and continue your cruise.

Be aware, however, that overnight recharging may not be possible where generator use restricts the availability of electricity.
